Thanks to everyone who came to the annual theSummit EFF Fundraiser at DEFCON 16 hosted by Vegas 2.0. We auctioned off two Rock Logo t-shirt prototypes and some Kingpin stickers and raised $136 for the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Not a bad way to kick off DEFCON!

Six months ago, I decided to launch Kingpin Empire with a goal of giving back to our hacker community by inspiring, educating, and raising awareness about the community and donating money to technology- and health-related charities. Before starting this project, I wouldn't exactly have called myself a philanthropist or activist and only occasionally donated money to various causes. But, it's never too late to start and actions speak louder than words.
So, what have we accomplished?
Kingpin Empire is a hacker-inspired project that gives back to the computer underground, technology, and health communities through charitable donations. Created and run by famed hardware hacker Joe Grand (aka Kingpin), all proceeds, after operating expenses, go directly to selected charities to help better our lives and protect our rights for future generations of hackers and free thinkers.
